Meet Your Citizens ✨ For ATA Day, we caught up with players from different stages of Single City to hear their stories: what brought them here, what keeps them playing, the moments they’ll never forget, and the people who have made their City feel like home! Step inside and meet some of the people who bring life to Single City! Moon QUICK BIO When did you start Single City? Oh gosh, i’ve been here since this game came out i’m pretty sure 😂 a bit embarrassing but i’ve experienced a lot through my years Which Crew are you in? OG 666 aka Hell Babes (and where my heart will always be at) but currently sitting in GOT/Gotham (thank you joker for letting me laze around) Your favourite Roomie or content drop: ooo Morgan seems like an obvious answer given my name but i love all things celestial and astronomical. more recent, i’d say Cherie - i love her as a collab roomie and everything about her (i’m a sucker for the color pink) What made you keep playing after you first started? Definitely the people! When I first started, I didn’t play as much and would log in here and there but eventually I joined a crew called TAP (which no longer exists and had its issues) but it was the first crew that made growing in the game and playing it enjoyable. I’ve met a lot of people there (some great and some not so good) but 2-3 of them are some of my closest friends in game to this day and we’ve been through a lot 🤣💗 What do you enjoy most about being part of SC's community? Maybe how vocal players can be about their dislike on certain content, which is probably not as great for the ATA staff but as a player, it’s nice to see players united when something outrageous or crazy gets released. Everyone bands together in those tough times How do you feel about PVP? Besides the friends I’ve made on the game, PVP is probably the main reason why I’ve stuck around for so long. I’ve been in a lot of wars since my time and PVP on this game used to be so fun! It sucks that PVP is ruined these days with the house reinforcement featured that was introduced a couple of years ago. I still love whenever I can engage in any form of pvp but it’s just not quite the same anymore (a bit full). Is there a moment, achievement, or milestone in the game that you’re especially proud of? Hmm I could say hitting a certain amount of influence or what not but it’s just numbers at the end of the day, so not something I feel prideful of 😂 Maybe a moment or many moments would be wars I’ve experienced from being in the OG 666 crew (Hell Babes). One particular war that I always refer back to as being the last “real war” I’ve ever been in / the last real crew to actually put up a fight is one we had with another crew tag called MFC loooooong ago. They were truly the only crew that kept us on our toes and it was so fun. It was amazing to see our crew come together and another crew actually PVPing/warring to the fullest extent. We went from being in game “enemies” to good friends with the leadership at MFC (shoutout to Phee 🤩) What’s one lesson you learned from playing SC that you carry in real life with you? I guess a lesson I’ve learned that I carry with myself in real life is to learning not to take other people’s behavior personally. There’s a lot of drama in SC and people can get very out of line, especially in times of war. While I usually don’t get into personal drama with people myself, I’ve been privy to some and not everyone you meet on SC will be kind and sometimes people will say or do things that genuinely upset you. But I’ve learned not to let someone’s behavior toward me define how I feel about myself or carry that negativity into my real life. You never really know what someone else is going through and at the end of the day, their actions are a reflection of them. It’s also been a good lesson in real life because same thing applies - whether it’s people you meet at a function or in the workplace. Learning not to let other people affect me as much as it would’ve previously has really helped in real life situations (though i will say, I still get upset at times which I think is okay! I just don’t allow those situation to get me upset for longer than the few moments I need to process it through my system.) If you were introducing the game to a new player, what would you tell them to look forward to? Being part of a great crew! It’s probably the reason most people play the game / stayed so long. Being part of an active and great crew is what helps you grow and it’s then that you truly have so much fun! 🤩 If you were dev for a day, what would you do? Abolish the defender reinforcement feature LOL 😂 Sorry but it truly is what ruined the game for me. WhTs the point of upgrading all these home attacking roomies (and even home defender roomies) if I can’t hit directly anymore (or someone can reinforce me so others can’t land on me regardless if it’s a home defender roomie or not). Rallies are too much effort! Or maybe unpopular opinion, get rid of trading. I feel like people would hate me for that but the focus on this game turned into more of a collection of furniture rather than the PVP and even the PVE functions that exist in the game (but heavy on the PVP part). If you could live in Single City for a day, which NPC would you trade lives with? I can say with full certainty that this has never once crossed my mind 😂 But I guess if I had to choose, maybe RadChad. He’s always been frustrating to spawn or shows up when I don’t want to run rallies (like right before bed). I’m pretty sure in the stories, he’s also kinda a jerk LOL. Maybe I’d switch with him just to knock him down a peg, embarrass him a little more than usual 😆 Is there something we haven’t asked you that you want to tell us about? I know you asked about a moment I’m proud of but I would love to share what my favorite part of the game has been. I went through a lot of transition from being in a couple of crews but the one that I always call home is 666 Hell Babes. It was the first time I’ve experienced being in a crew with a leader (shoutout to devilbabe) that actually cared about their members. It really showed me what “family” on a game could be like. All of my closest friends from the game to this day are people I met through that crew, and it’s honestly so special being able to be a part of their in-game lives while also getting to hear about their lives outside of the game. I’ve gotten to know some truly amazing people and made some lifelong friendships. It’s easily one of the best things to come out of Single City 💗 Otters QUICK BIO I started January 2023 My crew is Phantom Angels (333) My favourite roomie is Nikki What made you keep playing after you first started? The people who I bonded with in game. It was difficult for me at the beginning because I have a unique sense of humour but once people understood me, I wanted to keep coming back. It made me feel good making people laugh. What do you enjoy most about being part of SC's community? We can share ideas (even if they’re silly ones that I’ve jokingly made) and still get a response/consideration over it and how comfortable people are over sharing ideas to make the game better. How do you feel about PVP? I love tea. I love drama. PvP is great. I should really do it more. Is there a moment, achievement, or milestone in the game that you’re especially proud of? The rock avatars for April fools. It was great content to make memes and make people laugh. I also actually love that avatar. What’s one lesson you learned from playing SC that you carry in real life with you? I think the one thing I’ve learned is that it has made me realise how diverse and accepting the game is. Not just the communities but the roomies too. It’s cool seeing and reading about different types of personalities, cultures, styles, all the good things that make everyone unique. Which can also reflect real life. I grew up in a very diverse and large city with lots of diversity so it was quite comforting to play this game and see the same respect and values. It has opened my eyes to how people live uniquely and are all different (in a good and accepting way). If you were introducing the game to a new player, what would you tell them to look forward to? I’d tell them to look forward to the hot legendary roomies like Morgan and Liam 😂 you thought AJ and Lucas was hot? wait till you get/see them two, Phwwooaaaaarrrr!! If you were dev for a day, what would you do? This is a dangerous question 😂😂😂 I’d find a way to change the loading screen music to “never gonna give you up” (without copyright issues in the land of otters), I’d change the roomies faces to the rock avatar and I’d ensure that the ATA team must share a dad joke every hour on global chat. Just for fun. (ATA: Oh dear) If you could live in Single City for a day, which NPC would you trade lives with? Hands down, Evelyn. The sass and drama 💅🏻 Is there something we haven’t asked you that you want to tell us about? I wanna say thank you to Yoshi for being the coolest ATA member. Aaaaaand I would love another meme contest, might be too late now for 2026 but 2027 🤞🏻 ShinySparkle QUICK BIO When did you start Single City? 2024 September Which Crew are you in? T3A Your favourite Roomie or content drop: Black Friday shop and double coins Rad What made you keep playing after you first started? The crew helped me a lot when I first started. I’m pretty sure I bombarded them with a million questions 😂. They always tried to help and gave me lots of useful tips — although sometimes even they didn’t know the answer, so I had to go and ask ATA! 😂 So I think having a good crew makes a big difference What do you enjoy most about being part of SC's community? Definitely getting to know new people! I’ve met some really lovely and interesting people through the game. How do you feel about PVP? I’m not a huge fan of PVP myself. Is there a moment, achievement, or milestone in the game that you’re especially proud of? There are actually few! One might sound a little silly, but I’m really proud of maxing out my Viola. It took so much time to collect all the XP, and I had to resist the temptation to spend it on upgrading my other roomies! 😂 The second one was becoming captain in the BEY crew. I felt really honoured and happy that they trusted me with that role. What’s one lesson you learned from playing SC that you carry in real life with you ? If you want to achieve something, it’s important to set yourself a goal and keep going until you reach it. Sometimes it takes longer than you expect, but being consistent really pays off. If you were introducing the game to a new player, what would you tell them to look forward to? I’d tell them to look forward to all the new events, becoming stronger, meeting new people, and, of course, all the new furniture sets! 😄 If you were dev for a day, what would you do? I would add a feature where roomies could actually visit other players’ houses physically. Imagine inviting your friends over for some tea, having a swimming pool party, or just hanging out together! 🦩 👙 I’d also love for roomies to have more interactions at home, like eating, relaxing, sleeping, and generally doing little everyday activities. If you could live in Single City for a day, which NPC would you trade lives with? Zoe! She’s so fast and hardworking, and I think it would be very useful to have her speed for a day… especially when it comes to earning money! 🤭 I’d definitely make the most of that one day! 👛 Is there something we haven’t asked you about that you wanted to share? Just want to say that this is the first game which I've played for this long, so well done and thank you ATA ❤️ Quilllove QUICK BIO When did you start Single City? I started playing Single City in July 2023. Which Crew are you in? They Eating Again (T3A) Your favourite Roomie or content drop: My favourite roomie has to be Zoey. What made you keep playing after you first started? I think what made keep playing after I first started was my biase towards ATA because I had already been playing Party in My Dorm (PIMD) since 2019. So after downloading and going through, I was hooked. I genuinely enjoy their games that I even participated in the beta testing for Happy Campers. Three years after I started, I'm still here. What do you enjoy most about being part of SC's community? Definitely being part of a Crew, shout out to my They Eating Again (T3A) fam. I also enjoy the whole experience of exchanging furniture. I absolutely love it. Another thing I find fascinating is realising that there are actual people behind all these avatars. I have met people from different parts of the world, from different age groups and different walks of life. People who simply love gaming. It reminds one that you are not just sitting behind a screen playing by yourself. There is a whole community of people on the other side of that screen, and I really enjoy that. How do you feel about PVP? Honestly? I don't like it. 😂 I am one of those players who takes my time building my house, upgrading my furniture, upgrading my Roomies and gathering my resources. So when someone who is already at a much higher level comes along and hits me and takes my resources, I am not happy. I know PVP is part of the game, but personally, it is probably my least favourite feature. I am much more of a builder than a fighter. Is there a moment, achievement, or milestone in the game that you’re especially proud of? Absolutely! For me, it is upgrading my house and seeing my furniture and roomies progress. One milestone I am particularly proud of was moving from House Level 20 to Level 21. It took me almost a year because, at one point, someone hit me and took all my resources. I became so disinterested that I actually stopped playing for a while. But, of course, my love for ATA brought me back and eventually, I got my house upgraded. Now I'm at Level 23 and gradually upgrading to Level 24. Every upgrade feels like an achievement to me and I love seeing the progress I make. What’s one lesson you learned from playing SC that you carry in real life with you? You can meet anybody, anywhere. Single City has made me realise just how many different kinds of people you can connect with, and being part of the community has made me become more curious about people. I think I carry that into real life now. When I meet someone new, I am open to getting to know them and being friendly because I've seen firsthand that meaningful connections can come from the most unexpected places. If you were introducing the game to a new player, what would you tell them to look forward to? I would tell them to look forward to the city aspect of the game. There is something really fun about the city games where everyone has to come together, gather resources, collaborate and contribute. You will see the progress go from 50 out of 100 to 70 out of 100, and then suddenly everyone is watching and waiting for that 100 out of 100. And when it finally hits 100, everyone comes rushing in. 😂 It can make the game lag a little, but I genuinely love that excitement that comes with it. There are also so many collectibles to discover, furniture set to collect, roomies to upgrade, crews to join and rallies to participate in. There is always something to work towards. And I would definitely offer to guide a new player through the game. There is a lot to learn when you first start, but once you get into it, there is so much to enjoy. If you were a dev for a day, what would you do? I would make player-to-player collaboration even bigger. When I first watched the video of Single City in play store, the idea of collaborating with other people and going on dates made me think it would be a little more like Sims, where players could interact directly with each other. So I think I would explore more ways for players to genuinely interact and collaborate with one another. I would also change the way roomies move around the city. Instead of just seeing the line showing where a roomie is travelling from one location to another, I'd love to actually see them moving through the roads and different parts of the city. Basically, I would make Single City feel more like a living, breathing city. If you could live in Single City for a day, which NPC would you trade lives with? Definitely Gigi. I think it would be really interesting to see Single City through her eyes for a day. She seems to know what is going on with everyone, so I'd love to experience the city from her perspective and see what she gets up to when we're not following her around. Also, after spending so much time playing the game, I'd like to know what it feels like to actually be one of the characters in the city rather than just controlling my own world. So yes, Gigi gets my vote for the day. Is there something we haven’t asked you that you want to tell us about? The prices! 😂 As someone playing from Nigeria, the increase in prices has definitely been noticeable, especially with the exchange rate and inflation here. Something I used to get for 900 bucks is now 3,200. Another that used to cost 4,900 is now 14,900. Then another that was 7,500 is now 24,900. I'm just watching the prices go up like, "What happened?!" 😂 It hurts because there are things I genuinely want to buy. I want to stock up on XP, and I want to buy energy when it's time for Rad Chads, but sometimes the prices make me think twice. Questions for ATA Of course, our players had a few questions for us, too. So we handed things over to the Single City dev team to give them some answers straight from behind the scenes! Can we get a hint about something exciting coming to SC? 👀 [ATA] Senji - We have an update coming in a few months that we are hoping our players will love, especially those who have asked for more Black femme representation ❤️ What gives you inspiration to create new roomies and how long does it take to create them? 👀 [ATA] Senji - It takes anywhere from 10 days to 17 days for a roomie from start to finish, depending on the complexity of the design. The inspiration can come from anywhere, including movies, pop culture, fashion trends, and sometimes real life! The art team plays the game and we do take player feedback in the world chat into consideration. Would Villanel or Adler win in an arm wrestle? [ATA] Adler - Villanel hands down. Villanel climbs for fun and Adler can almost do two push-ups. There is going to be a showdown sooner or later but Adler will lose. If a bear and a shark had a fight, who would win? [ATA] Adler - That entirely depends on where they are fighting. What is something the Single City community has done or created that genuinely surprised the development team? [ATA] Adler - When the Hypnocat event came out, I was genuinely shocked how well cities worked together to find the items and drop points. I expected crews to support each other, but wasn’t expecting the whole city to organize the way you all did. After watching players build friendships, communities and memories in Single City over the years, what is one thing you’ve learned from the players that has influenced how you develop the game? [ATA] Adler - Y’all are good at finding our mistakes! I thought I had decent attention to detail before this job, but now….Seriously though, we have learned to appreciate and plan for greater diversity in playing styles, from world events to rad rivals we have learned to try new things. If the development team could experience Single City as regular players for one day, what would you most want to experience? [ATA] Yoshi - We do play as regular players 😉 But one of the most fun things to be a part of is seeing how people organize teamwork events and PFO, and seeing you all figure out mechanics and strategies in the ways we did and did not expect. [ATA] Adler - We may even be lurking in your crew… That's All Folks Y'all don't know how much it means to us at ATA to get to know the players behind the pixels. Thanks for reminding us why we do what we do - building communities. 💜 We're excited to do this again next year and if you want a chance at being featured, look out for the application form coming in late summer of 2027! If you have any feedback or thoughts on how the next one should go, let us know too! See y'all next year 😙✌🏼
