  1. ๐ŸŒŸ Our Community Moderating Philosophy ๐ŸŒŸ

Being a mod isnโ€™t about laying down the law; itโ€™s about looking out for the city. Our moderators are the ultimate community ambassadors, keeping our social spaces inclusive and the vibes high. They represent the best of us, making sure Single City stays a welcoming place for every player โค๏ธ

    ๐Ÿ“• Moderator Mission ๐Ÿ“•

    • Enforce community rules fairly and consistently.
    • Remain calm, professional and impartial in all interactions.
    • Monitor community spaces, de-escalate conflicts and protect player privacy.
    • Model positive behaviour and lead by example.
    • Report significant issues to senior staff.
    • Maintain confidentiality in all moderator-related matters.
    • Avoid favouritism, harassment or any misuse of moderator powers.

    ๐Ÿซก Code of Conduct ๐Ÿซก

Our moderators must uphold Single City's Terms of Use, and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the Silencing Policy. Rather than engaging in back-and-forth disputes, moderators should empower players to utilize the built-in block and report functions.

    ๐Ÿค Silencing Policy

    ๐Ÿ“Š Moderator Roles ๐Ÿ“Š

    Junior Moderator

    • Serves a probationary period, focused on learning. (2-3 Months)
    • Primarily moderates Discord and Community Forums.
    • Receives feedback and mentoring from Senior Moderators.
    • Once the probationary period is over, our team will evaluate whether the player is fully qualified to be a moderator and if they should be a permanent member of the moderator team.
    Moderator
    • Full moderation powers across Discord, Forums and in-game.
    • May issue short-term silences or infractions.
    • Collaborates with the moderation team and consults others on serious actions.
    Senior Moderator
    • Highly experienced and trusted community members.
    • May issue longer-term silences and approve serious infractions.
    • Mentor newer Moderators and help coordinate Moderation decisions.
    • Work closely with Community Managers and Developers.

    ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Tools & Expectations ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

Moderators have access to official tools to keep the peace, including silencing/timeout capabilities and access to private coordination channels.

    Available Powers:
    • Silencing or timing out players.
    • Issuing warnings and infractions.
    • Access to a private Moderator channel for coordination and record keeping.
    • Participation in internal discussions and event support.
    Limitations:
    • Moderators do not receive compensation or gameplay advantages.
    • They cannot ban players or access private account data.
    • Serious infractions require Senior approval.
    • All actions are visible to the full Moderation and Development Team for transparency.
โ€ผ๏ธ Note: These are volunteer positions. Moderators do not receive gameplay advantages or monetary compensation, but they do get a direct line to the Dev team and the chance to shape the community!

โฐ Activity: We look for moderators who can check in several days a week. Life happens, but extended inactivity (1 month+) without notice may lead to removal.

    ๐Ÿ”’ Moderator Safety & Security ๐Ÿ”’

As community volunteers, moderators are entitled to a safe environment free from harassment.

    Key Protections:
    • Doxxing, harassment or impersonation of Moderators is strictly prohibited.
    • If harassment occurs outside moderation spaces but is related to the role, ATA developers may intervene.
    • Developers and Community Managers, acting in official capacity, may not be harassed under any circumstances.

    ๐Ÿค Disagreements and Misconduct ๐Ÿค

Even experienced moderators may occasionally disagree. All internal conflicts should be handled professionally and privately.

    When Moderators Disagree:
    • Discuss calmly in mod-only spaces or private messages.
    • Seek second opinions when necessary.
    • If unresolved, escalate to a developer team member.
    If You Witness Misconduct:
    • Document the incident with screenshots or message IDs.
    • Report the concern directly to the developers rather than confronting moderators publicly.
    • All reports are investigated privately and fairly only by the developer team.

    โŒ Infractions and Removal โŒ

Moderators may receive coaching, probation or removal for misconduct.

    Grounds include:
    • Inactivity without notice.
    • Failure to enforce rules.
    • Abuse of power or disrespectful behaviour.
    • Leaking private information. (immediate removal)
    • Harassment, discrimination or dishonesty in reports.
    • Violating ATAโ€™s Terms of Service.
    Process:

    Coaching -> Warning -> Suspension -> Removal.

๐Ÿšจ Severe violations may lead to immediate removal.

    ๐Ÿ”จ Disputes and Appeals ๐Ÿ”จ

Players may appeal moderator actions through the official support ticket system. Moderators cannot access or respond to these tickets. If a moderatorโ€™s misconduct is confirmed, disciplinary actions range from coaching to permanent removal.

Harassment toward moderators, including impersonation, doxxing, false reports or public attacks, may lead to severe infractions or permanent bans for offending players.

    ๐Ÿ“ฅ Recruitment and Application ๐Ÿ“ฅ

When Moderator positions open, ATA announces recruitment opportunities publicly.
